The short version: Verba has no accounts and never asks for your name, your email, or anything that identifies you. It sends a small amount of anonymous usage data, described below, and nothing else leaves your phone.

1. No accounts, no personal tracking

Verba has no sign-up, no advertising identifiers, and no cross-app or cross-device tracking — there is no "Ask App Not to Track" prompt because Verba does not track you across other companies' apps or websites. The word library ships inside the app. The only network activity Verba starts on its own is the anonymous analytics described below.

2. Anonymous analytics

To understand how Verba is used — how many people finish setup, reach the word packs, or come back the following week — Verba sends a small amount of anonymous usage data to TelemetryDeck, a privacy-focused analytics provider. No name, email, account, advertising identifier, or precise location is ever involved, and we neither sell this data nor use it for advertising. What Verba sends: which screens you reach, that a pack was purchased, which language you added, and the coarse, non-identifying answers you give during setup (such as what brought you to Verba). The analytics SDK automatically attaches basic technical context as well — your device model, operating system version, app version, screen size, language and region, and time zone. Each signal carries a pseudonymous installation identifier: Apple's per-vendor device identifier, combined with a secret salt and hashed on your phone before anything is sent. We never receive the underlying identifier, cannot reverse the hash, and cannot match it against any other app or company. We want to be precise about one thing, because it is the reason the identifier exists: it stays the same for as long as Verba remains installed, so while we can never tell who you are, we can tell that one anonymous installation came back this week. Deleting and reinstalling Verba produces a different identifier. This is part of using Verba and there is no separate switch for it; deleting the app ends it. It is deliberately built so that turning it off would protect nothing we could otherwise learn about you: there is no account to attach it to, no advertising identifier, and nothing that survives a reinstall.

3. Your data stays with you

Preferences, saved words, streaks, purchases, and practice progress are stored locally on your device (in the app's container) and are never transmitted to us. If your iPhone is signed in to iCloud, Apple also syncs a backup of this progress to your private iCloud so a reinstall or a new phone can pick up where you left off — it never passes through us and is readable by no one but you. Deleting the app deletes the on-device data; any iCloud backup stays in your private iCloud, and "Delete all my data" in Profile erases that copy too. Anonymous analytics already sent cannot be traced back to you or your device, so there is nothing in it to retrieve or delete on request — which is the same reason it cannot identify you.

4. Purchases

In-app purchases (word packs) are processed entirely by Apple; we never see your payment details. Apple's privacy policy governs payment processing.

5. Notifications

Word notifications are scheduled locally on your device; no push servers are involved.

6. Children

Verba does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.

7. Changes

If a future version collects anything beyond what is described here, this policy and the App Store privacy label will be updated before that version ships.
