Say it better: eight precise upgrades for tired words
A stronger word is not automatically a fancier one. It earns its place by replacing a broad label with the exact temperament, mood, or judgment the sentence needs.
“Talkative” is fine. “Smart” is fine. But fine words are like fine tools with one size and no edge. Each of these eight replaces a word you already overuse with one that cuts to a specific shape:
excessively talkative, especially about trivial matters
The garrulous cab driver narrated the entire city's gossip before we'd left the airport.
reserved or uncommunicative in speech; saying little
The taciturn foreman answered every question with a nod or a grunt.
having keen judgment and quick perception, especially in practical or financial matters
An astute manager spots declining morale weeks before productivity numbers confirm it.
showing wisdom, keen judgment, and shrewd understanding, especially of people and situations
